A flash… a breath… I’m back.
Desert tarmac, silence heavy as a crack.
I’ve seen infinity, walked through the ashes,
But now it’s done… why does the world shake under my lashes?
The streets stare at me weird, whispers beneath the porches,
An old man sells chestnuts, whisperin’ my name way too loud.
I left, should’ve stayed gone,
But their eyes weigh me down, like a ghost in the spotlight, gone.
I’m pickin’ it all up, even words I’ve never known,
English, Arabic, Italian from a kid in the zone.
What’s this madness? I’m tuned in, no doubt,
Like the universe’s talkin’ in my scattered thoughts now…
I see my reflection, everything seems right,
But in their eyes, there’s a spectral light.
They say it’s me, the one who saved this earth,
But why do I feel the void chillin' my nerves?
I’m back... but where the hell am I?
A hero… or just a ghost passing by?
They whisper my name like a prayer,
But I’m lost in this light, it’s too much to bear…
Memories hit like storms, bangin' on the door,
A shadowy giant, hand on my forehead, raw.
A word floats: acquitted,
But what am I acquitted from? A changed man, split it?
Back in the hometown, cold gazes stare,
Even my mum hesitates to share.
I’m here… but I’m no longer theirs,
Just a ghost with a glimmer that nobody cares.
My skin sweats blurry truths,
My stare makes the crowds lose their grooves.
They smile but take a step back,
Do they love me... or fear what I lack?
I’m back… but where the hell am I?
A hero… or just a ghost passing by?
They whisper my name like a prayer,
But I’m lost in this light, it’s too much to bear…
Then the uniform came, too late to cry,
Ambassador, a bridge, ‘twixt two forgotten lives.
I’m neither here, nor over there,
Just an exile chained by their law, unfair.
Maybe I saved humanity,
But me… I’m lost for eternity.
